View ProgrammeA formal welcome to the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States
The Inaugural Induction Programme for New Ambassadors to the OACPS has been designed to provide newly appointed Ambassadors accredited to the Organisation with a comprehensive and structured orientation into the OACPS mandate, institutional architecture, and strategic priorities. The programme equips Ambassadors with a clear understanding of the Organisation's decision-making processes, Secretariat support mechanisms, and the practical expectations that will guide their engagement within the OACPS framework.
Through a series of focused sessions, Ambassadors will gain insight into the historical foundations of the Organisation, the significance of the Georgetown Agreement and the Samoa Agreement, and the current reform and renewal agenda championed by the Secretary-General. The programme also provides a practical platform for dialogue, peer learning, and the establishment of productive working relationships between Brussels Missions, capitals, and the Secretariat.
This induction reflects the OACPS commitment to a more active, informed, and results-oriented Committee of Ambassadors — one that is fully equipped to advance the collective interests of its 79 Member States across Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific.
Six strategic outcomes guiding the Inaugural Induction Programme
Introduce Ambassadors to the historical foundations and mandate of the OACPS, grounding their engagement in the Organisation's founding principles and 50-year legacy.
Clarify the relevance of the Georgetown Agreement and Samoa Agreement as the constitutional and strategic frameworks underpinning the OACPS–EU relationship.
Present the current strategic priorities and reform direction of the Organisation, including the Secretary-General's institutional renewal agenda.
Strengthen coordination between Brussels Missions, capitals, and the Secretariat to ensure coherent and effective representation.
Equip Ambassadors with practical knowledge for effective participation in the Committee of Ambassadors, including meeting cycles, documentation, and agenda influence.
Encourage active, informed, and results-oriented diplomatic engagement in support of the collective interests of 79 OACPS Member States.
